CHRIS 1(copy)

Chris has been passionate about cheese making for over 20 years. He started learning in his native country - Holland making Gouda style cheeses on a Jersey dairy farm. Here he has been involved with award winning Hohepa Cheesery in Clive, Hawkes Bay, and is pleased to have their experienced cheese maker Inacio Guimares joining him regularly during his cheese making classes.

Chris runs his classes from Farmhouse Kitchen, which he and his wife Pauline established in 2012. Farmhouse Kitchen is a spacious and well-equipped kitchen, especially designed  to provide cooking classes, workshops and team building activities.

Chris’ cheese making classes are hands-on, fun and informative and  aim to give people the skills and confidence to create their own cheese at home.

Greater Manawatu Sue Being born and bred on a farm, moving from the city to live rurally was a natural choice for our family.
We have a large rural garden, and a very productive vegetable garden and orchard. As our growing season is very short here in Rangiwahia, a lot of our supplies are grown year-round in our glasshouse. I am an avid gardener and you will find me outside on good and bad weather days. We made a decision when we moved here to be as self-sufficient as possible due to distance from a supermarket and local vegetable stores. I preserve all my own fruit, and make chutneys, sauce and jams for friends and family. A lot is also donated to our local church fair annually. Our free range hens produce fresh eggs every day.

My passion for cheese making started 5 years ago, As I milk my own goats this gave me the added value of being able to use their milk for our use. I regularly make cheese, from the soft cheeses, camembert, brie’s and now hard cheeses.

I look forward to starting your journey in cheese making and a regular small classes are held in the greater Manawatu area.

Whanganui  17092361 1262357463849380 1461056835 n (1) I was born in South Africa and helped my parents make all our own cheese, butter, ice creams, processed meats, jams, pickles chutneys, bread, wine, liqueurs etc.

My fulltime work is as a nurse and I love sharing my passion for making all things from scratch. We live on a small lifestyle block and are mainly self-efficient with a large vegie garden.   I hand rear calves each year. I have free range Pekin ducks and chickens and sheep.  I run a few different courses teaching people the lost art of preserving etc.  While people are at my classes they get the opportunity to trial kombucha, kefir (both milk and water), and many of the other yummy goodies that are hidden in my fridge or pantry.  My cheese making courses are fun and easy which encourages the participants to continue the journey when they leave.

All funds from my classes and sales of eggs and preserves go to local charities.
